Spring is a useful time to inspect the cooling coil area, condensate drain and outdoor unit after a long heating season. Clear exterior debris and replace a loaded filter before sustained cooling demand begins.
Fall preparation
Before the first cold spell, check furnace intake and exhaust openings, test carbon monoxide alarms and schedule licensed gas maintenance where required. An accessible furnace cleaning addresses dust; it does not replace combustion testing.
Winter observation
Watch for unusual cycling, reduced airflow and snow blockage at high-efficiency vent terminals. Small checks prevent avoidable emergency calls.
